Flash

If I could be one superhero, it would probably be the Flash. Or Gambit, because he has really great hair.

And if I could be one type of fiction, it would also be flash. We’ve been writing a ton of it lately. It’s neat because we wrote close to 500 pages about two main characters, but we have so many other characters and creatures and places and schemes that we want you to discover—

So many that a second book alone can’t hold them all. So these quick stories give us a great opportunity to set loose some more of Lumen’s secrets.

What made Vos the paranoid hermit he is when Norther meets him? What’s Bast up to after his encounter with Shoshanna? What’s the story behind the Old Guardians? Read a few of these teensy-weensy stories and find out. We’ll be posting them on Instagram and Facebook every day this month, and once a week after that—and, of course, they’ll be catalogued here, on the site.

And let us know what you think. E-mail or message us your theories. Shucks, write your own Lumen flash fiction.

Stay slick and spooky!

What are we up to now?

So we did it! 8 years of research and writing and editing. And We really hope you guys are enjoying it!

But we are far from done. The Journey through Lumen Marcia has just begun! We are hard at work still planning and writing the sequels, and Many Short stories about the world of Lumen. Plus New art to come!

Keep checking back for new short stories and art. You may even understand Lumen Marcia in a new way as you read on.

Ps. Charlie’s got jokes, but I will buy a whole set of Jeffree Star lipsticks just to kiss them books up real good.

Visit Lumen Marcia with Us!

Dashe and I have been living in Lumen Marcia for 8 years or so now. And we were going to continue living there, isolated, alone, just the two of us, like a couple of old turtledoves, for another month or so when we released the book on October 30th, but we just got too dang excited to see you. So we figured, “What the hey? The book’s all finished—let’s put it out now.” And we did that.

So grab the paperback or ebook, slice up your favorite pie, and visit our brains. We’re even more excited to see you than we were to see The Matrix Reloaded. And, even though I haven’t told/asked him about it yet, Dashe is offering a special deal, where, if you ask him, he’ll apply any color lipstick you want and kiss the inside cover of your copy. Not sure how anyone could pass up such a treat.

Anyway, after you read it, let us know your thoughts. Ask us questions. Tell us where you think the sequel is going. Draw pictures of your favorite characters, creatures, and locations. Write your own stories about the town’s weirdos. Share everything with us! Because Lumen Marcia isn’t just ours anymore. It’s yours, if you want it to be.

Good Gravy

Websites are a lot of work. And what’s goofy is, after you’ve worked on one for a few hours, you look at the final product and think, Boy, barely anything has changed. Or maybe that’s just me…

Anyway, we’re doing our best to make the site really spiffy and flowy, so let us know if it isn’t. Or is—we love affirmation.

Our Instagram and Facebook pages are up and running (just search Lumen Marcia or find the links at the bottom of this very page), so follow us if you’re a fan of neat things. We’ll be posting books/games/movies we’re reading/playing/watching, fun facts about Lumen Marcia (called Lumen Lowdown, since we’re such fans of alliteration), artwork (called—get ready for more alliteration—Creatures of the Keln), and other stuff too, probably.

Other than that, we’ll just be buying Halloween costumes and preparing for Lumen Marcia’s official release on October 30th!

Final Edit is Donezo!

…We think. Went through the entire manuscript, made teeny weeny changes, and submitted. Dashe has also added some art to the back cover. Looks so groovy and spooky it made me gasp in both delight and fear. If I’d been wearing pearls, I would have clutched them significantly.

We’ll get another review copy soon, take a look at that bad boy, make sure all is dandy, and set the official release date—which should still be some time in October.

The Proofs are Here!

...And we immediately found a typo. Gah! My teeth are much duller now, after grinding them as I stared at the odious word.

Other than that, the book looks mighty fine. Mighty fine. Dashe's cover pops like a bubble with wet pop rocks in it. We're going to read through the entire shebang one more time, make a few fixes, and set a release date for some time in October. It feels like an October book to us.

We're also working on a couple short stories (which we'll post in the Small Tales section of the site), the second Lumen novel, and the--the third Lumen novel? Yep. Neat stuff coming in the future!

The Cover art is finished.

The cover is now complete. I'm happy with the outcome--typically when I work on any art I kind of don't believe I can really do it. At some early point in the process, I take a step back and question whether or not I can actually draw, and if I have bitten off more than I can chew. More than once I came across this sensation and had to take some breaks to refocus. Because of that, I can't really tell you how long it took to finish, Probably the better part of a Month, because of all the breaks in between.

Anyway, I'm glad it turned out well.

Now, as time winds on and all of the little frayed edges are pulled into order, Charlie and I have little left to do,  You'll be hearing from us soon.

For many a night, we've turned out the lights, lit aromatic candles (pumpkin cupcake for me), sat in front of our computers, and read each chapter aloud to each other. We've made edits and ensured the formatting was pretty, and at this point we're just delighted with the text itself.

What's next? Dashe is finishing up the cover (which looks even better than my pumpkin cupcake candle smells), and I'm reading the manuscript one... final... time... because I'm almost certain that my impish pinky hit a key at some point and completely ruined a sentence, or something. So close!
